OC Sheriff’s Office arrests Virginia Teenager for filing False Report

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Virginia teenager Wednesday on a charge of filing a false police report of a felony. 18-year-old Sarah Katherine Campbell was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and released the same day on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. Deputies were notified on Jan. 27, by the Clemson University Police Department of a reported sexual assault that occurred at the Delta Chi Fraternity House near Seneca. Deputies spoke with Campbell, who was the reported victim of the assault and started an investigation, which was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered, it was determined that the sexual relations between Campbell and the male at the Fraternity House was consensual and that Campbell had not been truthful in the information that she provided to the investigator in the case. Based upon that evidence, the investigator had probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant against Campbell.
