OC Sheriff’s Office discovered Shake and Bake Meth Labs

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office recently disposed of two shake and bake style meth labs within the past few days in the Westminster area. The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind citizens of the dangers of these meth labs as well, explains Oocnee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt.  “The first lab was discovered back on October 10th, as a road patrol deputy responded to 1010 Greenfield Road in Westminster in reference to an individual who found a bottle on the side of the road. The bottle was described by that individual as a large soft drink bottle that smelled of a strong odor. The deputy who responded noticed what appeared to be green and white colored sand in the bottle and the bottle did not appear to have any liquid inside. The bottle also had a cap on top and did not have a tube coming from the top. Narcotics units were notified and found the bottle was no longer an active meth lab. The second lab was discovered Monday morning by an individual discarded on the side of the road on Dinky Line Road near Jenkins Bridge Road in Westminster. The bottle reportedly had a tube sticking out of the top. When an officer arrived, the deputy found a two liter plastic bottle with a tube sticking out of the bottle cap. The bottle was busted and did not have a liquid inside. Both of these incidents are evidence that the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine had taken place. Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Agents properly disposed of both items.” The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens that if they find any suspicious looking bottles that contain anything that looks unusual to call law enforcement. Do not pick up or open the bottle due to the dangers of toxic fumes or an explosion. Methamphetamine is made with chemicals that could potentially harm or kill someone. Leave the bottle along, move away, and call your local law enforcement agency to properly dispose of the items.
