OC Sheriff’s Office investigating Assault of Postal Worker

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are seeking information about the assault of a postal employee last month, tells Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “The Sheriff’s Office first learned of a reported assault that occurred in the Long Creek area, near Academy Road and Spider Valley Road, late in the morning hours of April 10. The complainant was a Postal Worker, who stated that, the victim did, that they were on Spider Valley Road and came across a red in color truck at the stop sign at the intersection with Academy Road. The individual in the truck reported got out and asked the Postal Worker for directions to the boat ramp at Bull Sluice. Apparently, the victim, the Postal Worker, told the subject how to get there and the suspect reportedly grabbed her by the arm, the Postal Worker, and opened the door, pulling her out on the ground and an attempted assault occurred, so therefor the victim could not identify the witness. Apparently, the Postal Worker contacted her supervisor, who then got in touch with the Sheriff’s Office. The Postal Inspector also responded as well. We issued a BOLO for the suspect to surrounding agencies and also for the vehicle as well. We began an investigation, talking with some witnesses and some other folks who were in the area. The investigation is on-going.” The U.S. Postal Inspection Service described the man as approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 180 pounds with dark hair and a full beard. A $50,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction is being offered by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-877-876-2455.
