OC Sheriff’s Office issues CrimeStoppers Alert

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has issued a CrimeStoppers Alert regarding a woman found laying in the sand on the shore of Hartwell Lake in Fairplay.  The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 27 at approximately 10am when a passerby discovered the woman. Deputies identified the woman as Diane Johnson from Westminster. She appeared to have been severely beaten, and was unresponsive to medical personnel and law enforcement. Johnson was transported to AnMed Hospital, where she remains in ICU. The hospital is now listing her condition as stable.  Her vehicle was nearby, and there were some signs of a possible struggle near where she was found. As of Wednesday afternoon, Johnson has been unable to tell investigators what occurred, or who her assailant may have been. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for information that may lead to the discovery of Johnson’s attacker, or other information that may help them to understand what exactly occurred. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
