OC Sheriff’s Office participates in Day of Action
Last Friday, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office participated in the “Day of Action” at the United Way of Oconee County offices on East North First Street in Seneca. The “Day of Action” is held on June 21st of every year and is recognized by the United Way organization worldwide. It is a day of community service and projects and the United Way of Oconee County participated in projects this year involving education, health, and income. The Sheriff’s Office held a pill take back day as part of the “Day of Action.” The Sheriff’s Office collected about three pounds of old prescription pills and liquids during the event. The Sheriff’s Office holds pill take back days to allow individuals to bring old prescription pills and liquids and old vitamins as well to make sure that they are disposed of properly and don’t end up in the landfill or as a threat to the community. The Sheriff’s Office also handed out literature and spoke with several people on the dangers of drugs.
