OC Sheriff’s Office participating in No Shave November

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has once again this year put down their razors to raise awareness of men’s health issues by participating in No Shave November, tells Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “The men in the Sheriff’s Office have participated in No Shave November the past two years and Sheriff Mike Crenshaw is once again supporting deputies’ participation in this initiative. No Shave November helps to bring awareness to men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, and to help raise money for a great cause. Uniformed deputies are not allowed have beards per our policy but we will be making an exception during November. As long as those deputies keep their beards neat and trim, they will be allowed to keep them for the month of November. Deputies who decide to participate will pay a minimum of $20 and they can raise as much money as they want through any donations they receive from citizens. The Sheriff’s Office is asking that any donations that citizens want to make be made to deputies in person or by stopping by the Sheriff’s Office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 5pm. The Sheriff’s Office is asking citizens and residents not to call the Sheriff’s Office to make donations as this may tie up the phone lines that are used for official law enforcement business. If you decide to write a check for your donation, please make that check to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.” This year, the money raised by deputies will go to the United Way of Oconee County.
