OC Sheriff’s Office releases Security Check Numbers from Walhalla Game

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has released the security check numbers from last Friday’s Pickens at Walhalla football game. According to Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, approximately 2,100 people were scanned using hand held metal detectors between 6-8pm. Those numbers released by the Sheriff’s Office were made available to the Sheriff from the School District of Oconee County. “The use of the hand held metal detectors by our correctional officers and our deputies went very well last Friday night and there were no delays or extended lines on either the home or visitor side for fans entering the stadium” says Sheriff Crenshaw. “I attended the game and we received positive feedback from those attending the game in regards to the additional layer of security being provided. As we mentioned previously, the Sheriff’s Office is reserving the right to use this technology going forward at other events in the county and when we use them at other events, including other games, we will announce that beforehand.”
