OC Sheriff’s Office releases Security Check Numbers from Seneca vs. Daniel Football Game

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announces the security check numbers from last Friday’s Daniel versus Seneca football game at Coach Tom Bass Field on the campus of Seneca High School. According to Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, approximately 3,000 people were scanned using hand held metal detectors in just over one and a half hours. Those numbers released by the Sheriff’s Office were made available by the School District of Oconee County. “Our initial use of the metal detectors at last Friday’s Daniel at Seneca game went well,” says Sheriff Crenshaw. “There were no lines for fans waiting to be scanned in order for them to go through the gates to enter the game. It took an additional ten employees from our office to operate the metal detectors. The Sheriff’s Office is reserving the right to use them going forward at other events in the county and when we use them at other events, including other games, we will announce that beforehand. As our citizens are aware, this technology has and is being used at various stadiums, arenas and events in our state and around the country and we have and will use this technology in the future as another layer of security in order to keep our citizens safe as they attend events in our county.”
