OC Sheriff’s Office seeks help solving Solar Panel theft

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help solving the theft of solar panels from one of the Welcome to Oconee County signs, tells Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division received a call regarding the theft of solar panels and damage to the battery box at the Welcome to Oconee County sign on North Highway 11 near the Pickens County line. The deputy responded to the incident location and discovered the damage at the sign location. The damage was discovered around 5:45pm on Sunday, July 23. The price of replacing the solar panels will be around $2,500. The scene was processed for evidence by an evidence technician and the investigation into the case continues.
