OC to expand Seneca Landfill

Oconee County is one step closer to expanding its Class 2 landfill on 89-acres near Wells Highway in Seneca. During a public hearing last night hosted by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), a church and two home owners signed waivers clearing the way for the expansion. The church and homes are located within a 1,000 foot radius of the construction and demolition landfill project. Representatives with DHEC outlined the project during the public hearing in the Seneca High School auditorium. There is still time to give feedback on the project as the deadline for submitting comments is Sept. 21. Comments should be mailed or emailed to DHEC.
