OC World War II Veterans identified
Over the past six weeks, the Oconee County Veterans Affairs Office has been busy looking for World War II Veterans across the county. Through their exhaustive efforts, the local VA Office has identified 129 of these veterans. It is noted that nine of the 129 are women who participated in various functions during the war. A ceremony is being planned for March 1 at 2pm at the Gignilliat Community Center in Seneca to honor these brave veterans for their service during World War II. The local VA Office hopes Oconee County residents will turn out in large numbers on March 1 to pay special tribute to the men and women of this county who helped play such a huge part in the shaping of history for, not only America, but also the entire world.
