Oconee Campus to be dedicated Today

Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) will host a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony today, Aug. 17, at 11am to unveil the new Oconee Campus, tells Public Relations and Communications Director Rebecca Eidson. “TCTC President Dr. Ronnie Booth will join Oconee County partners to cut the ribbon on the Oconee Campus, the first building to be constructed on the site of the Oconee County Workforce Development Center. The Oconee Industry and Technology Park will co-locate the Oconee Campus, a new Career Center servicing the School District of Oconee County and industry. The result will be a unique center for technical education, work-based learning and economic development. The project is a partnership between the College, the School District of Oconee County and Oconee County. The dedication ceremony will feature comments from Dr. Booth, Dr. Michael Thorsland, superintendent for the School District of Oconee County; Christine Tedesco, chair of the Oconee Economic Alliance Board; Edda Cammick, chair of the Oconee County Council; Rep. Bill Sandifer; Rep. Bill Whitmire; and Sen. Thomas Alexander. Fall semester begins Aug. 20. The campus makes degree programs and professional credentialing more accessible to those living and working in Oconee County. Program offerings are industry driven and were specifically selected based on jobs that are available in Oconee County, focusing on advanced, highly-technical programs and customized workforce training to business and industry throughout Oconee County. Credit program offerings include the first two semesters of Industrial Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, Technical Operator 1 and 2 (Certificate), CNC Programming and Operations (Degree), Manufacturing Management and Leadership (Degree), Business Administration (first year – core curriculum) and University Studies (Certificate). Corporate and Community Education offerings include South Carolina Manufacturing Certification, CNC Machine Operator Training, Mechatronics and other career certificates such as ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing and OSHA. In addition, high school students can enroll in technical career pathways classes as well as dual enrollment (university transfer) courses.” The Oconee Campus of TCTC is located in the Oconee Industry and Technology Park at 552 Education Way in Westminster. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
