Oconee County Coroner’s Office Announces Death Of Seneca Man From Complications Of Drowning

(Seneca, SC)—–The Oconee County Coroner’s Office announced late last week the death of a Seneca man who died from complications of drowning.

47 year old Derek E. Lindsey died at 10:57am last Thursday morning at Prisma Health-Greenville Memorial Hospital where he was airlifted after the incident and after resuscitation efforts were provided.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, August 3rd during a swimming outing on Lake Keowee near Mr. Lindsey’s home when he was attempting to locate some sunglasses and did not resurface, according to Coroner Addis.

The Coroner’s Office says that Lindsey was found minutes later by a neighbor and pulled from the water.

The Coroner’s Office has classified the manner of death as accidental.
