Oconee County Council Chairman Julian Davis Comments On Internal Review And Forensic Audit

(Seneca, SC)————Oconee County Council held their regular Council meeting Tuesday night and during the public comment session, a citizen inquired about the ongoing internal review and forensic audit that was requested due to reported unauthorized pay raises.

The review is being handled through the office of County Attorney David Root. Oconee County Council Chairman Julian Davis says that when the review is completed, the information obtained from the review will be released.

Davis says that audit’s do take some time and from a transparency side, Davis says that Council does not see a lot of what is going on behind the scenes.

Davis says the internal review is scheduled to be completed in the July time frame.

Davis also was appreciative of County Council providing county employees with a pay raise and to provide it “in the correct way” under the budget as Council looks to be “fiscally responsible” with the taxpayers money.

Also during the meeting, County Administrator Amanda Brock announced that four additional Comprehensive Plan public meetings have been scheduled for the month of July.

The first meeting will be Tuesday, July 9th at Mountain Rest Community Club, followed by Thursday, July 11th at the Salem Community Center. There will be a meeting on Thursday, July 18th at the Westminster Depot and the final meeting will be held on Thursday, July 25th at the Fair-Oak Youth Center. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 6pm and all Oconee County residents are invited to the meetings.
