Oconee County Council Recognizes Recent Sheriff’s Office Graduates Of The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy

(Seneca, SC)————————–At last night’s Oconee County Council meeting, County Council recognized the newest group of graduates from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy that are working as deputies at the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

The nine new graduates include the largest contingent of deputies from the Sheriff’s Office to attend and graduate from one class at the Academy. That group includes Deputy Chris Johnson, who was awarded the J.P. Strom Award as the officer with the highest academic average in that particular class.

Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw had the opportunity to introduce the recent graduates who were there at last night’s Council meeting and thanked County Council and County Administrator Amanda Brock for their recognition of the newest graduates and their support for public safety and law enforcement in Oconee County.

The Sheriff said that with the funding for School Resource Officers that many of those positions were filled by deputies.  It left a void, according to the Sheriff, but he is grateful that the number of positions filled are getting back to where they need to be.
