Oconee County Planning Commission Seeks The Public’s Input Regarding Highway 123 Corridor Plan

(Seneca, SC)—————————-As the Oconee County Planning Commission seeks the public’s input into a Comprehensive Plan that they are working on, the Planning Commission is also seeking the public’s input into another project they are working on, the Highway 123 Corridor Plan and there are some meetings coming up in March in this regard. Adam Chapman, the Planning Director for Oconee County, was a recent guest on the Coffee Time program and he said a consulting group that specializes in transportation and corridor plans was hired and is working with the Planning Commission to draf the plan. The Planning Commission will be holding three days of meetings on Monday, March 18th, Tuesday, March 19th and Wednesday, March 20th to gain public input for the Corridor Plan.

Chapman says that once the Planning Commission receives the plan back from the Consulting Group, the Planning Commission will review it for any possible changes and then pass it along to County Council in regards to consideration and possible implementation, which will also entail funding if the long term project is approved. Chapman said that the South Carolina Department of Transportation has and will have input in the plan since Highway 123 is owned by the SCDOT. Chapman also said that this may be the first of several corridor plans for the County.
