Oconee County Planning Department Holds Three Days Of Workshops And Meetings In Regards To Highway 123 Corridor Plan

(Seneca, SC)———————–The Oconee County Planning Department has been busy and continues to be busy with a couple of major projects that they are working on and for which they are seeking public opinion.. One of those is the Comprehensive Plan for the County as well as the Highway 123 Corridor Plan and there are a series of meeting and workshops beginning today to gain public input on the Corridor Plan.

Adam Chapman, who is the Planning Director from Oconee County, said on the Coffee Time program last Friday morning that several months ago, Oconee County Council gave the Planning Commission money to hire a consultant group to do a professional corridor study of Highway 123 between Seneca and Clemson in the county portion of the by-pass. The consultant group will come in and look at traffic and safety issues as well as other concerns expressed by citizens so Chapman says that public input is critical to this process.

Chapman says the Corridor Plan it is not a County owned plan and will impact others so the Planning Department has been reaching out to gather input from the SCDOT, the cities of Clemson and Seneca and CATBus.

The regularly scheduled Planning Commission Meeting will be held tonight at 6pm in Council Chambers on Pine Street. Tomorrow and Wednesday morning, there will be an Open Design Studio in the Conference Room at Pine Street from 10am until Noon. There will also be a presentation to County Council during their regular meeting Tuesday night at 6pm and there is what is being called a Design Pin-Up in the Conference Room Wednesday after from 4pm to 6pm. Chapman says that citizens are welcome to call or stop by the Planning Department to provide input. If you would like to speak with Adam Chapman to provide input on the Highway 123 Corridor plan or the County comprehensive plan by phone, please call 864-364-5103.

The Planning Commission meets every first and third Monday in Council Chambers on Pine Street in Walhalla at 6pm and public input is welcome.
