Oconee County Property Tax Bills: No Increase for Unincorporated Residents, with Specific Exceptions
Oconee County Council Chairman Matthew Durham announced that property tax bills for unincorporated Oconee residents will see no county-level increase for 2025, a result of the council keeping the lien on taxes and responsible negotiations with the school district. While the county rate remains flat for most, exceptions include a small increase in Walhalla due to city council decisions, a reduction for Westminster residents, and a new 23-mill levy in the Corinth-Shiloh Fire District, approved by local referendum. This levy translates to an approximate increase of $1.05 per $1,000 of vehicle value (e.g., $26.25 on a $25,000 car) and impacts homes depending on assessment, such as around $175 for a $250,000 primary residence, specifically funding the fire district in addition to existing county and school taxes.
