Oconee County Recycling Centers Now Accepting Glass

Oconee County Recycling Centers are now accepting glass for recycling. Glass products should be cleaned and lids removed prior to arrival at the Recycling Centers. This will help to prevent contamination and load rejections and reduce the need for staff to handle said products. The Recycling Centers will continue to accept regular household garbage, cardboard, scrap metal, mixed paper, aluminum cans and tires. An increase in municipal waste and recycling materials has led to longer than normal wait times. Oconee County asks that the public please be patient as personnel work to diligently meet demand and provide a safe environment for staff and residents of Oconee County. The Recycling Centers will not accept plastic at this time. Those items have a higher risk for contamination and pose a potential health threat to Oconee County Personnel. When visiting Oconee County Recycling Centers, all persons should presort recyclables, limit time outside of vehicles, and continue to maintain a safe social distance of six (6) feet from others. Groups should be limited to three or less as much as possible. Oconee County Recycling Centers will maintain customary hours of operation: Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Recycling Centers are closed Wednesdays and Sundays.
