Oconee County SC Sheriff’s Foundation Sponsoring Naming Contest For New Sheriff’s Office Canine For Elementary Aged Youth In Oconee County
(Seneca, SC)—————-The Oconee County SC Sheriff’s Foundation is sponsoring a contest through May 17th that will allow an elementary school age student in Oconee County to name the new Sheriff’s Office explosives and tracking canine.
According to a press release issued by the Sheriff’s Office, the dog is a male yellow lab.
The contest is open to all elementary school students in grade K-5 in Oconee County and those students can pick up an entry from in the front office of the school. If an elementary aged student in Oconee County is homeschooled or privately educated, they can participate by having a responsible adult call the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at 864-638-4117 or e-mail [email protected] with their name section.
The winning student will receive a $100 prize from the Sheriff’s Foundation, who is purchasing the canine with funds raised by the Foundation.
Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says that the winning student will have a chance to meet and have their picture taken with the new canine sometime this month.
Last night, Oconee County Council issued a proclamation recognizing K-9 officer Dina, who passed away last month.
