Oconee County School District Schedules Special Meeting Amid Superintendent Search
The Oconee County School District has announced a special trustees meeting for late Monday afternoon, following what is believed to be the final interviews on Thursday with the three superintendent finalists: Dr. Amy Edwards, Andy Smith, and Eric Williams. Thursday featured key selection activities, including a stakeholder luncheon and a public community meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Career and Technology Center, where attendees met and spoke with the candidates in separate classrooms. Board Chairwoman Dr. Meghan Ketterman welcomed the finalists and highlighted the district’s pivotal moment after the recent retirements of Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland and Assistant Superintendent Steve Hanvey. The upcoming meeting is expected to address the selection of Thorsland’s successor.
