Oconee County School Superintendent Finalists Auditioned Yesterday

Yesterday marked a key day in the selection process for the next superintendent of Oconee County public schools, as the three finalists—Dr. Amy Edwards, Andy Smith, and Eric Williams—participated in auditions and community engagement events.

The main evening event was a community meeting held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Career and Technology Center, where members of the public had the opportunity to meet and speak with the candidates, who were stationed in separate classrooms. Earlier, stakeholders attended a luncheon to interact with Edwards, Smith, and Williams.

Oconee County School District trustees chairwoman Dr. Meghan Ketterman welcomed the finalists and emphasized to stakeholders that the district’s public schools stood at a pivotal moment, following the recent retirements of top administrators Dr. Michael Thorsland and Steve Hanvey.
