Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests 22 Year old on charges after shooting threats made

(Seneca, SC)——–The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 22 year old man on multiple charges after the subject made threats to shoot people.

22 year old Damon O’Neal Johnson has been charged with one count each of Providing False Information, Assault and Battery – 3rd Degree and Disturbing a Place of Worship.

According to the incident report provided by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Foothills Community Church on Bountyland Road Wednesday evening in response to reports of a disturbance in which dispatch told deputies that a black male was cussing and disrupting the church service.

Deputies observed an individual, Johnson, walking down Critter Road. An off duty law enforcement officer at the church told deputies that Johnson made the threats after being told to leave the youth service because it was only for younger people, according to the case report.

Johnson was taken into custody, however, he initially provided a false name to deputies. A Corrections Officer at the Oconee County Detention Center recognized Johnson and a positive identification was made.

According to a press release, deputies were not able to locate any firearms in relation to the incident. Johnson was placed on trespass notice from the church, according to the incident report.
