Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Fifth Subject on Charges Related to Assault of a Teenager

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a fifth subject on charges related to an investigation of an assault of a teenager in late May at an apartment complex near Seneca.

18 year old Dorian Denathan Latimer of Maple Grove Road in Seneca was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:42pm yesterday on an outstanding arrest warrant charging him with one count of Assault and Battery by Mob (Serious Injury) – 2nd Degree.

Late last week, the Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of four Anderson County men: 19 year old James Samuel Crittendon of Boggs Road in Belton, 21 year old Dakota Scott Lewis of Blume Road in Anderson, 22 year old Brandon Lee Richards of Brown Road in Starr and 22 year old Alejandro Vincent Ryan Patrick Gehrmann of Maverick Drive in Pendleton in relation to the same incident. The four men were also charged with one count each of Assault and Battery by Mob (Serious Injury) – 2nd Degree.

According to information released by the Sheriff’s Office in a press release last Friday, a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division spoke with a family member of the victim on June 1st in regards to the assault, which occurred at the clubhouse of The View at the Pier on Highpointe Boulevard near Seneca during the evening hours of May 29th.

The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim was assaulted by a group of men. The victim sustained injuries in the assault that required medical attention.

At this time, Latimer remains in custody at the Detention Center on a $25,000 surety bond. Crittendon, Lewis, Richards and Gehrmann also received $25,000 surety bonds each and those four men have been released from the Detention Center after each subject posted bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. The Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could in any way identify the juvenile victim in this case.
