Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Man on First Degree Burglary and Petit Larceny Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man over the weekend on charges of First Degree Burglary and Petit Larceny. 59 year old Wayne Emory Drost, who has listed addresses of Shady Pine Drive in Seneca and Scotland Drive in Easley, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 2:20 pm Sunday. Deputies responded to an address on Leila Drive near Westminster late Sunday morning in reference to a report of a burglary in progress. Deputies made contact with Drost, who told deputies that he had keys to the home and that he had permission to be there. Deputies spoke to the homeowner, who then told deputies that she did not know Drost and that he did not have permission to be there. According to the arrest warrants, Drost broke into the residence without consent, with the intent to commit a crime and has two or more prior
convictions for burglary. Drost is also accused in the Petit Larceny arrest warrant with stealing tools and electronic equipment. At this time, Drost remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center as bond was denied on both charges. Drost will appear before a Circuit Court Judge at a later time regarding bond.
