Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Oconee County Man Burglary and Domestic Violence Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Oconee County man on multiple charges yesterday, which included outstanding warrants on charges of First Degree Burglary and Domestic Violence – 1st Degree.

33 year old Steven Lee Ables was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at
11:56pm Thursday night. At this time, Ables remains in custody on a combined $35,880.00 surety bond.

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to an address on Nectarine Circle near
Walhalla late Thursday evening in regards to reports of a trespassing subject who was asleep inside of the residence. When deputies arrived, they made contact with Ables outside; whom they confirmed was on trespass from the Nectarine Circle address.

Ables was placed under arrest on a charge of Trespassing. Ables also had three outstanding arrest warrants on charges of First Degree Burglary, Domestic Violence – 1st Degree and Trespassing from a previous incident, at the same Nectarine Circle address, that occurred on April 17th of this year.

According to evidence obtained in regards to the incident from Sunday evening of this week, Ables broke into the residence at night and assaulted the victim, who is the mother of his children, which caused the victim to suffer a broken arm. Children were also present during the assault, according to the arrest warrant. Ables was also on trespass from the residence.

Deputies attempted to locate Ables on April 17th but he had left the scene of the incident.

The investigation into the incident that occurred on Sunday of this week was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau.
