Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Oconee County Man on Grand Larceny Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the arrest of an Oconee County man on two counts of Grand Larceny related to the theft of two separate utility trailers in two separate incidents.

46 year old Carl Frank Crane, who has listed addresses of Dodge City Drive in Walhalla and Indian Oaks Road in Seneca, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 1:21am yesterday on a Temporary Custody Order until arrest warrants were obtained by investigators.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into reports of thefts of two separate utility trailers at two separate locations in the county back on Monday morning of this week. One of the thefts occurred at a location on Retreat Pointe Road near West Union, in which a 1998 black in color 21 foot box trailer that was owned by a construction company was stolen from a construction site. The value of that trailer was approximately $8,000. The trailer also contained construction tools and equipment.

The second theft occurred at a location on Bay Harbor Lane near Seneca in which a white 16 foot enclosed trailer with blue letters on three sides used in the construction business, and owned by a contractor, was taken from a construction site. The estimated value of the trailer was approximately $6,000. The trailer also contained construction tools and equipment.

The cases were turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. Based upon evidence gathered in the cases, it was determined that Crane stole both trailers and their contents sometime over this past weekend.

At this time, Crane remains in custody at the Detention Center on a combined $20,000 surety bond. He will also be required to wear an electronic monitoring device as a condition of bond should he be released.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
