Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Charges Two With Voluntary Manslaughter In Relation To Death In Structure Fire On Utica Mill Hill

(Seneca, SC)—The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man and a woman with one count each of Voluntary Manslaughter as a result of the investigation into a structure fire at an address on Lonsdale Street in which the body of a deceased Seneca man was located inside back on November 26th.

27 year old Karissa Jane Davis and 41 year old Daniel T. Falu were booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Falu, who also goes by the alias’ of Solomon Ezra and Solomon Kenzo, was also charged with one count of obstructing justice.

Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Davis and Falu, according to the arrest warrants, started the fire in the abandoned home and allowed the fire to spread further. The defendants are also accused of knowing that the deceased, 27 year old Seth Jacob Gaunt, was also present in the home and knowingly left Gaunt unattended and also in an incapacitated state, which allowed him to perish without notifying fire or law enforcement of his presence inside the home.

Falu is also accused of obstructing justice by, according to the arrest warrant, texting Davis and telling her to tell law enforcement of a different time frame in which they were in the abandoned home on Lonsdale Street if questioned about the incident.
