Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest in Monday Evening Homicide Investigation

(Walhalla, SC)————————————–The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest this afternoon of a Westminster woman on a charge of Murder in relation to a Monday evening homicide near Westminster.  

An arrest warrant was obtained today charging 37 year old Carrie Leigh Tyner (Radford) with Murder in the shooting death 54 year old Rodney Johnson at an address on Hobson Street yesterday evening.  The arrest warrants states that Tyner caused the death of the victim by shooting the victim in the head with a firearm.   Both Tyner and the victim resided at the incident location, according to investigators.  

Tyner was located at an address on Sweetbriar Trail, which is in southern Oconee County near Foxwood Hills, around 1:31pm today.  Tyner has been transported to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.    

The E-911/Communications Center received a call around 6:22pm Monday in regards to reports of shots being fired on Hobson Street.  When deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division arrived on scene to begin their investigation, they discovered an adult African-American male who had sustained a gunshot wound at a residence in the 400 block of Hobson Street.  The man was deceased on the scene at the residence. 

According to information obtained by investigators, a white female wearing a white tank top and shorts was seen running towards Toccoa Highway after the initial reports of shots fired was received by dispatch Monday evening.  Investigators were able to identify the female as Tyner. She remains in custody pending bond. 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
