Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Receives Donation Of Equipment From Tactical Medical Solutions

(Seneca, SC)————The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announced last week that it has received some new equipment via their ongoing partnership with Tactical Medical Solutions of Anderson.

Back in 2013, the Sheriff’s Office was able to supply all certified deputies with DOK kits, or Downed Officer Kits, via a fundraiser that was held and donations from Tactical Medical.

Besides receiving 25 new DOK kits, the Sheriff’s Office received two Active Response Kits and two Foxtrot Litters, equipment that could be used in the event of a critical and/or mass casualty event.

Captain Jeff Underwood from the Uniform Patrol Division of the Sheriff’s Office says that the ARK bags contain ”a plethora of equipment” while the Foxtrot Litters would enable officers to remove injured people out of dangerous situations in order to receive medical assistance.

Underwood said that the cost of the equipment would be around $3,000 if the Sheriff’s Office had to use budgetary funds for the equipment. With the donation, however, there will be no cost to the Sheriff’s Office or taxpayers for the equipment.

The equipment was made possible through a 501-C-3 non-profit organization based in California called Cops Direct, which raises money to be able to purchase medical equipment for law enforcement agencies across the country.

Lt. Dan Stout with Tactical Medical Solutions says that Cops Direct provides an allotment every month to Tactical Medical, which is normally around $7,500 a month. Tactical Medical then begins the process of reaching out to agencies, normally three to five agencies a month, to determine that type of equipment needs those agencies might have.

Stout says those needs may range from just the DOK Kits to the Active Response and Foxtrot Litter.
