Oconee Designated a “Right To Life” County by Council Resolution

Oconee County is now a right-to-life county after a new resolution declaring such received the support of all five county council members at their meeting in Walhalla last night. Earlier this year a separate resolution to make the county a sanctuary for the unborn failed by one vote.

During the meeting, however, Council Member Glenn Hart wondered if the resolution passed due to political considerations among some of his colleagues…

The council 5-0 vote to pass the resolution came following a spirited public comment session. Among those who registered contrasting views were the chairpersons of the county’s Democratic and Republican parties.
