Oconee Economic Alliance Director Provides Update On County Industrial Parks During Planning And Economic Development Committee Meeting

(Seneca, SC)—–Before Tuesday’s Oconee County Council meeting, the Planning and Economic Development Committee met in council chambers and during that meeting, Oconee Economic Alliance Director Janet Hartman provided an economic development update, which included information on the three industrial parks in the county.

Hartman shared statistics in regards to the industrial parks with the committee, including how many times that each individual park has been submitted for projects since April.

According to Hartman, Oconee Economic Alliance receives Request for Information from interested parties.  Right now, the Oconee Industry and Technology Park seems to be the most popular park due in part to the workforce development campus and the entrances to the park and the grading, according to Hartman.

Hartman says that the OITP has been submitted seven times of projects to different site selectors through the state or the regional alliance.

Hartman said that the Seneca Rail Park has been submitted two times, however, Hartman says that Seneca Rail Park is unique because of the rail component.  Hartman said that one of the projects is still interested and once the road has been completed to allow access to the park, Hartman believes that will help the potential suitor to make a decision one way or another.

In regards to the Golden Corner Commerce Park, that park has been submitted four times for projects with the most recent time within the last two weeks.  Even with the prospect of someone purchasing the park, the Economic Alliance has not stopped marketing that park, according to Hartman.
