Oconee Economic Alliance Provides Update On Activities During Monday’s Coffee Time Program

(Seneca, SC)——————Monday morning, Janet Hartman and Daja Dial from Oconee Economic Alliance were guests on the Coffee Time program and Janet told us that the first economic development announcement of 2019 should be announced soon. Janet also gave us an update on the air in regards to what else the Economic Alliance has been up to, including an update on the two Opportunity Zones that were recently approved for Oconee County.

Hartman said that there have been some meetings with some individuals regarding the Opportunity Zones with some thoughts and plans on how to market the zones, which are located in Utica and Newry. Speaking of Utica, Hartman said that some work is going on in regards to the Seneca rail site and an entrance road into the Industrial Park park there. Norfolk Southern provides rail service in that area and that is an advantage in regards to product development, according to Hartman. Hartman also talked about the Oconee Industry and Technology Park and showing individuals the Workforce Development Campus and the advantages of having individuals walk through the campus and see classes in session in regards to the development aspect. Hartman says that OEA is receiving calls from folks looking at various parts of the county and OEA stands ready to provide them whatever information they may need, and that includes smaller buildings that some individuals are looking for. OEA works with real estate agents in that regard to try to accommodate them.
