Oconee Humane Society Hosting Three Day Weekend Adoption Event

The Oconee Humane Society, as part of National Adoption Weekend, is hosting a three day adoption event that begins this afternoon at Pet Smart in Seneca. While there is a great need for pets to find good homes, Angel Newman from the Oconee Humane Society, says that potential adopters need to make sure that they can make a commitment to the pet they are adopting.

The adoption event is Friday afternoon from 3 pm until 7 pm, Saturday from 11 am until 4 pm and Sunday from 12 pm until 4 pm. If you are looking to adopt a pet and you rent, you are asked to bring in documentation showing that you are allowed to have a pet where you live. Also, if you have other pets, please bring documentation that shows that your other pets have their rabies vaccination, which is required by law. If you are adopting a cat, please bring a cat carrier.

Angel says that all pets adopted from the Oconee Humane Society are already spade or neutered, already micro chipped and they have their age appropriate vaccinations. Those adopting will also receive a free certificate for a vet visit at one of the vets in the area. Angel also says that annual checkups and regular vaccinations as well as heart worm protection is extremely important for your pet.
