Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority Completes Repair of Ruptured Wastewater Line on Ridgeview Drive
The Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority (OJRSA) has finished repairing the 14-inch wastewater force main on Ridgeview Drive near Seneca that ruptured during the winter storm on the night of Saturday, January 31, 2026. Crews remain on site to clean up the spill and will return periodically this week to restore the affected area. Road repairs and asphalt placement will be handled by a contracted service and scheduled once the contractor confirms availability; drivers and pedestrians should continue exercising caution around the work zone. The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) has been notified, initial stream samples have been collected, and results from the first evaluation are expected late Tuesday afternoon, with ongoing monitoring until Martin Creek returns to normal. The water quality advisory for Martin Creek remains in effect until SCDES approves its removal—signs are posted, and people and pets should avoid contact with the creek east of Wells Highway until further notice.
