Oconee Kids Showcase on May 4

Oconee Kids Showcase, an expo for children and families with children up to age 12, is a new and improved version of the Mom and Baby Fair held each spring at the Shaver Recreation Center in Seneca. For 15 years, new and expectant parents in Oconee County and surrounding communities have come to the Mom and Baby Fair to learn about programs, products and services available to them and their young children. In celebration of its 15th anniversary, event organizers are expanding the event to reach even more children and families. Now called Oconee Kids Showcase, the event is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 from 10am to 1pm. It will feature some great new vendors this year as well as many of the same organizations who have participated in the past. “We realized that we were missing so many children and families in our area by calling the event ‘Mom and Baby Fair’,” said Heather Goss, marketing manager at Oconee Medical Center. “There are some great programs for children in elementary school and middle school we felt were little known, hidden jewels, in our community. We wanted to grow our event so that families could hear about some of the many great opportunities available to them and their children.” Admission is free, so families can enjoy the event without worry of paying for tickets. In addition, each year the vendors offer up some fantastic door prizes that attendees can win just by coming and registering. “This year, we have vendors representing summer programs, area attractions, and various visual and performing arts,” added Goss. “With summer fast approaching, it’s a great time for parents to look at programs to help keep their kids active and engaged during summer break.” Vendors scheduled to be present at this year’s Oconee Kids Showcase include: Safe Kids Upstate, All J’s Catering & Rendevous, The Arts Center of Clemson, Upstate Kids, Oconee Adult Ed/Family Literacy Program, Safe Harbor, Chick-fil-A, Pampered Chef, Heath’s Haven, Family Friends, Calhoun Family Chiropractic, Oconee First Steps, Principles of Parenting Successfully, Michole’s Thirty-One Gifts, Issaqueena Pediatric Dentistry, Seneca Health Department, Oconee Community Theatre, Early Intervention/DSN Board, Mary Kay, Paparazzi Accessories, Seneca High School Future Educators of America, Salvation Army, Baby Net, Foothills Family YMCA, Foothills Pregnancy Care Center, Save Animals from Euthanasia, Camp Chatuga, Close to My Heart Scrapbooking, La Leche League of the Pickens Area, and The Clemson Little Theatre.
