Oconee’s Firefighters Were Busy Last Night and This Morning

A third early morning brush fire within a wooded area near the 1100 block of Davis Mill Rd. was reported again today. Around 6:30 am this morning, volunteers from the Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department responded to extinguish the small fire after two callers reported the burn to Oconee 911. Earlier this week, on Tuesday morning not long before 5:00am, two small brush fires in the same wooded area were reported, as well. Officials are working to determine the exact cause of those fires.

And in West Union, a burning home on Jennings Road was reported at about 8:30pm; then, residents lost power for about an hour and a half last night around 9:15pm, after a transformer and a couple of power lines came down on West Main Street in West Union.

A few minutes after that, EMS and fire fighters responded to a burning residence on Wood Street in Westminster, and transported a patient from that scene to an area hospital, according to reports.
