Officers recognized for work on SC Upstate Financial Crimes Task Force

This week, United States Attorney Bill Nettles recognized five local law enforcement officers for their work on the South Carolina Upstate Financial Crimes Task Force: Detective Grady McCutchen Epps of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Jonathan Scott Blackwell of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Detective John Timothy Martin of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, Detective John Burgess, Spartanburg Public Safety Department and Detective George Andrew Clark of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. The mission of the Task Force, Nettles said, is to protect the citizens and businesses of the Upstate from financial crime through public education and the prosecution of offenders.  The Task Force is a cooperative effort among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and prosecutors. The Task Force investigates many white collar criminal matters such bank fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.  Task Force members also work diligently to protect the integrity of the mails and to prevent identity theft.
