OMC achieves Positive Bottom Line

Sister station WGOG reports that Oconee Medical Center achieved a positive bottom line last month.  However, revenues above expenses do not translate to higher income from patients. Oconee Medical Center vice president for operations Hunter Kome said the hospital achieved a positive bottom line primarily by expense management. Kome says the last five months of the hospital’s governing year will be more challenging, partly because the summer months are less busy. He estimates the federal sequestration triggered by the “fiscal cliff” will cost Oconee Medical Center about $500,000 or more before the end of the fiscal year, which is September 30 for the hospital.
