OMH Foundation drops 200 Golf Balls

A bucket truck of the Seneca Fire Department assisted Dr. Bill Chiles with dropping 200 number golf balls onto a bull’s eye painted on the campus of Oconee Memorial Hospital (OMH) Wednesday afternoon. It was part of the OMH Foundation’s 11th Annual Golf Classic. The former firefighter turned doctor enjoyed the experience. “I always wanted to be in the bucket, but never got to do that, but it is a beautiful view of the hospital and the mountains. I really liked it up there. So, no fear and nice breeze.” Three lucky people won cash prizes as their balls fell closest to the bull’s eye, explains OMH Foundation Manager Cortni Nations. “All 200 balls were sold and we are so grateful for the generosity of employees and community members for giving back. The great thing is that three community members have won some cash money. So, we’re excited for Gene Blair, Jason White and Nancy Cottingham our three winners.” Four local healthcare services were also winners in the fundraiser, adds Nations. “Proceeds from this fundraiser and our wonderful Golf Classic Golf Tournament and our reception at The Cliffs will benefit four incredibly vital services to this community; our Emergency Department expansion, Safe Kids Upstate our Oconee County program, our Breast Care Center and last but certainly not least our Access Health Free Dental Clinic that we house in the hospital.” OMH Foundation’s 11th Annual Golf Classic concludes Thursday, Sept. 27, at 6pm with a reception and live auction at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls.
