One Flown to Area Hospital After Crash Near Westminster

Thursday evening around 5:45 pm Oconee County Deputies and the South Carolina Highway Patrol along with EMS responded to a multi vehicle accident at SC 11 and Richland Road near Westminster. One person was airlifted from the scene to an Upstate hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the accident, and officials said that another person involved in the crash was taken by ambulance to a Greenville area hospital.

While an investigation is underway to determine exactly what caused the crash, officials said they think a car ran a red light at the intersection. Oconee Deputies found the driver of one of the vehicles they said was involved with the accident after he is alleged to have fled the scene on foot. Reports stated the as yet unnamed driver was located near Sigmon Drive and Old Seneca Road, and was taken to the hospital by sheriff’s deputies.

Arrest records from the Oconee County Detention Center show that 34 year old Michael Anthony Brice was charged by deputies with being a habitual traffic offender and driving on suspended, his third or more offense for that charge.
