Open House planned for New Substation in Oakway

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office invites the public to an open house that will showcase a brand new Sheriff’s Office substation in Oakway. The substation is located at 150 School House Road at the site of the Oakway Intermediate School just off Highway 182. The open house will take place Saturday, Feb. 24, from 2-4pm. This new substation will be in addition to the three other Oconee County Sheriff’s Office substations, which are located in Seneca beside the Coroner’s office on the campus of Oconee Memorial Hospital, in Longcreek on Highway 76 next to the Longcreek General Store and in Salem at 115 Maintenance Drive next to the Keowee Fire Department on Highway 130. “This new substation, just like the other three we have, will allow our deputies to patrol the Oakway and Fair Play areas more frequently because they can use this substation to file reports due to broadband internet access and stay in those assigned areas, which allows for better response times,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “All of our substations are not staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; however, citizens in these areas can make arrangements to meet deputies there by contacting our communications center at 864-638-4111. I want to personally invite all Oakway and Fair Play area residents to attend this Open House. Those citizens will have an opportunity to meet the deputies that are assigned to this area. These substations continue our goal of building partnerships to promote a safer community, which is our vision statement at the Sheriff’s Office,” says Sheriff Crenshaw.
