Over 50 Percent Of Proposed Next Fiscal Year’s Budget To Be Devoted To Education, According To Oconee State Senator

(Seneca, SC)———————-Work continues in Columbia for the South Carolina State Legislature to not only wrap up the regular legislative session tomorrow but also continue work on the next fiscal year’s budget, which begins July 1st.
Oconee State Senator Thomas Alexander said the budge will be a little over $9 billion dollars. Senator Alexander that over 50 percent of the budget will be devoted to education from K-12 thru the two and four year colleges and universities in the state.
Senator Alexander said that the Office on Aging has become a Governor Appointee Agency, plus, the first Child Advocacy position will also be appointed.
The new director of the Department of Social Services has just been affirmed within the last couple of weeks, according to Senator Alexander, plus, the new director of the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce was confirmed this week.
