Peak Time to see Fall Colors

The peak time to see the beautiful fall colors in the Golden Corner of South Carolina is almost here, says Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Phil Shirley. “The landscape is still green right now. Normally this time of year we are starting to see some color, but we had so much heat for so long and we are just now feeling that crisp in the air and seeing some of the colors turn. I think we are going to have some good color, but I think it is going to be really fast this year. So, from what I am hearing, I anticipate those first two weeks of November kind of being our peak time. We are full of opportunities for people to get out on the road, to ride through our foothills and the northern part of the county to enjoy the fall foliage. There are so many things that you can do outside of just riding through the mountains; there is You Pick Farm that still has apples and different products to pick and there are roadside stands with agritourism happening. What a great family opportunity to get out and enjoy that and to see the beauty. So, just plan those trips and a lot of people go camping to enjoy that, but I anticipate the first two weeks in November being our peak time.” To learn more about fun things to do in Oconee County, log on to www.visitoconeesc.com or www.experienceoconee.com.
