Pendleton Mayor’s Update on January Town Council Meeting
Mayor Sarah Stokowski opened January’s Town Council meeting by recognizing Ernie and Peg of Swamp Fox Distilling for community support and Willie Greenlee for over 35 years of service. The council approved minutes, heard public comments, and received a police report on over 713 calls since December 1, including arrests via multi-agency narcotics operations. Highlights included Shop with a Cop aiding 42 children and assembling senior meal bags, organized by Councilwoman Lyn Merchant. Updates noted 11 new home permits and progress on branding, employee surveys, and retail development. Actions included scheduling a February 3 recycling hearing, approving events (National Day of Service January 19, Spring Jubilee April 4-5, 5K April 18), reallocating funds for decorations, adopting the budget calendar, accepting infrastructure, approving firefighter stipends, advancing zoning ordinances, and making appointments. Mayor Stokowski thanked all for contributing to Pendleton’s future.
