Pickens City Police Department Continues Investigation Into Hazardous Device Incident At Pickens County Courthouse

(Seneca, SC)—-The Pickens City Police Department is continuing their investigation today into an incident in which two hazardous devices were intentionally placed near a wall on the exterior of the Pickens County Courthouse on Court Street inside the city limits.

According to a press release from the Pickens Police Department, the remnants of two devices which appeared to be characteristic of homemade pipe bombs were located on the side of the building near the facility’s HVAC units.

The press release indicated that both devices appeared to have detonated which caused damage to some windows close to where the devices were located.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:15pm on Sunday.  No injuries were reported.

The Police Department has received assistant by resources from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
