Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Still Seeking Escaped Inmate

(Seneca, SC)————————The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is still seeking the whereabouts of an inmate who escaped from the Pickens County Detention Center over the weekend. 45 year old Steven Leroy Aiken escaped after a perimeter door was opened in order to bring laundry into the facility, according to Chief Deputy Creed Hashe. Chief Hashe reported that Aiken had leaped over the perimeter fence and then fled on foot around 4:05pm Sunday.

Chief Hashe says the escape did not involve any type of assault or attack on prison personnel and while deputies have no information that he is armed and dangerous, Chief Hashe says the public should avoid contact if they see Aiken and contact the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office instead.

Aiken was in jail serving a 128 day sentence for a Family Court Bench Warrant. Chief Hashe said that Aiken will be charged with Escape upon being captured.
