Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Terminates Detention Officer After SLED Investigation
(Seneca, SC)—————–The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a Detention Officer has been fired for a violation of Sheriff’s Office policies after an investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. 23 year old Zachary Keith Blanton was hired by the Sheriff’s Office on June 18th, 2017 and was assigned to the Detention Center where he served as a Detention Officer. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark requested assistance from SLED in regards to an investigation centering around various types of illegal contraband being smuggled into the Detention Center by a Detention Officer for personal gain. Blanton was arrested and taken into custody at SLED agents. Blanton was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
