PIONEER PLANT ABOUT “TO GO VERTICAL”

Now near the halfway mark in construction, the newest water treatment plant in Oconee County is about “to go vertical,” in the estimation of Terry Pruitt, general manager of the Pioneer Rural Water District. It’s an indication that, for the first time, what’s being built next to the Golden Corner Commerce Park will become visible from nearby SC 59. In a report to his board last evening, Pruitt said the general contractor has reached the 45% completion stage and that, so far, the number of days worked had reached 309 out of the 600 provided in the contract. Pruitt says, so far, the quality of the work by the Harper Corporation is “acceptable.” A member of the audience asked for a figure of how much Pioneer will have spent to have defended itself against the legal challenges by three sets of plaintiffs and one intervener. Pruitt replied that, as yet, he does not have the exact figure, but those costs will be disclosed later.
