Plan now to protect Pets from the Heat

Summer is almost here and that means hot days are ahead. As the temperature rises so does the danger for pets. Angel Newman with the Oconee Humane Society offers these summer safety tips for pets. “Any pet that is outside needs to have access to plenty of fresh water and good shelter, I mean an area where the air is going to flow. Imagine if you were in a small box that was barely larger than you and the heat beaming down on you. So, they need good shelter to be able to get out of that sun and pets get sunburn, especially the light colored ones, if your dog has any kind of pink on it, they make doggy sunscreen.” For more protection tips for pets, visit www.oconeehumane.org.
